Breaking News: Meeting our new social media marketing intern
WHO I AM!
Hello! My name is Sydney and I am the new social media marketing intern at Peak Media! I am a senior at Southeastern Louisiana University and am majoring in Marketing. I am in several clubs on campus and looking to join more. I juggle content creation on the side and am a leader for one of my clubs as well. I am super excited to be here and I can’t wait for what’s to come. If I had to describe myself in three words, it would be: hard working, fun, and an overachiever. I love getting things done! I enjoy multitasking and therefore am super excited to begin my internship. Marketing is so much fun because you get to meet people and fix things. I already use marketing on my own being a content creator, but being a social media marketing intern just shows the flip side of things, so it is really cool to see a different perspective.
WHAT I DO!
Some of the things I do as an intern is social media audits, scheduling company headshots, shooting content for dealerships, etc. Being an intern is so much fun because I am learning so much new information and skills that I have been taking classes for. It is exciting to finally feel official in my career. Usually I work from home, but if I decide to go into the office one day, here is a day in the life of a social media marketing intern. I wake up super early, dress up super cute, change four times, go get an iced latte from Dunkin Donuts, drive to Baton Rouge, then get to the office around eight or nine o’clock in the morning. When I step into the office I begin working and then at ten o’clock in the morning, we have a daily office briefing. After the meeting I go back to working on my assignments. Sometimes we go get lunch together. I usually stay until around one thirty-two o’clock in the afternoon unless I have more work to do then I’ll stay a little bit later. When the day is over, I drive back home and repeat the process the following day.
WHAT I LOVE!
Some of the things I love most about my internship is getting to learn so much new, helpful information and feeling so welcome in the office. I also love getting to dress up for work. My favorite part os getting to choose: “Should I wear my sequin high tops or my wedge heels today?” It is so much fun coming to the office just because I get to see what everyone else wears as well! Another fun aspect of the job is getting to go places to shoot content for our clients. For example, I went to a dealership a couple weeks ago and learned so much about how to shoot content for the dealerships and what type of content they expect. I also love the flexibility of getting to work from home, from school, etc. I love that I have the ability to work at five o’clock in the morning or at midnight. I really love trying new things which makes my internship even more exciting. But for now, lets see what the future holds!
